- Math & Woodworking
This fun, hands-on class will sharpen your mind and body as you learn how to apply math to woodworking. Your days will begin with a math primer taught by Cheryl Clark, Assistant Professor of Accounting at Point Park University. Campers will review basic math principles to help calculate things such as area, perimeter, circumference and diameter, which are needed for woodworking. In the afternoon it's off to wood shop, where you'll learn to use all the tools of the tradesaws, sanders, hammers, and hand drills. Learn the proper techniques and safety precautions and then let you get started building a cool project, beginning with a birdhouse or toolbox. You'll also learn about different types of wood, teamwork, budgeting and how to manage your time during a project.
