Teens Want Excitement During Family Vacations

A survey of teens and their parents found that the majority want to have "adventure" on their vacation. About 78% of the teens want an experience that will give them "bragging rights" among their friends, such as swimming with dolphins, meeting celebrities, or exploring a new place.

The majority of parents report that they would join their teens in such activities. More than 80% of the parents said their children have some or a lot of influence in deciding what kind of vacation the family will take.

Only 16% of the teens said they want to play video games on their vacations.

Harris Interactive surveyed 1,076 children ages 8 to 17 years old, and 2,407 adults in April 2007 in behalf of the Anheuser-Busch Adventures Parks. This company operates Discovery Cove, Sea World, and other amusement centers.
